Co-op Dayton's 10-Year Impact Report

Great work deserves a story worth telling.

Ten years is a big deal for any organization. For Co-op Dayton, it meant a decade of worker-owned businesses actually growing. Neighborhoods getting stronger — proof that economic development doesn't have to look like the same old playbook everyone else runs.

Their Impact Report needed to feel like all of that. Ten years of momentum. Ten years of optimism. Ten years of "we knew this would work" with a clear eye on what's coming next.

The Opportunity

Co-op Dayton's Executive Director came to us with a reference point already in mind: Miami Valley Meals' 2025 Annual Report. She loved the energy and the polish and wanted that same feel for Co-op Dayton's tenth-anniversary piece.

We love when this happens. Someone hands us a north star and says "give me that feeling," and then trusts us to go make it theirs. So that's exactly what we did. We used it as a jumping-off point, not a template. Because Co-op Dayton needed its own story, in its own voice, with its own decade of proof behind it.

The Challenge

Here's the thing about impact reports — they have a genuinely tough job. Communicate real data. Celebrate wins. Thank the partners who showed up. Inspire people to keep showing up too. All without turning into the kind of document people skim once and never open again. (We see you, 40-page pdf nobody reads.)

The hard part was never organizing the information. It was making something people would actually want to read — where the people behind the numbers got just as much room as the numbers themselves.

Our Approach

One idea drove every decision on this one: make it feel as hopeful as the organization it's about.

Photography did a lot of the heavy lifting, highlighting real people, real businesses, and real communities. Clean layouts and generous white space gave the stories room to breathe. Bold type kept even the data-heavy pages feeling easy instead of homework-y.

And instead of treating the financials like a necessary interruption, we wove them right into the narrative so the momentum never dropped.

The Result

More than a ten-year recap, this became a celebration of the communities Co-op Dayton serves. Proof that thoughtful design can make complex ideas land clearer, stick longer, and mean more.

Great work deserves to be presented like it matters. Because it does.

And honestly? This is our favorite kind of project. If your organization has a milestone, a story, or ten years of incredible work nobody's properly celebrated yet — we'd love to help you tell it.
