Website Design & Development — A 40-Page Site for a Defense Engineering Firm
The Challenge
Black River Systems Company is a Dayton-area defense engineering firm specializing in advanced sensing systems, signal processing, and AI-enabled technology for commercial, government, and defense clients. Their work is sophisticated and highly technical — but their website was not keeping pace.
The site needed to communicate Black River's capabilities, market credibility, and culture to two very different audiences: potential government and commercial clients evaluating their technical expertise, and top engineering talent deciding where they want to build a career. Both audiences needed to find what they were looking for quickly, and leave with confidence in what Black River could do.
The challenge was not just a redesign. It was translating a deeply technical brand into a clear, modern digital experience — without losing the substance that makes Black River credible.
The Solution
Spark Space Creative designed and built a new 40-page website that reflects Black River's market position and the precision of their work. The site spans five major content areas — R&D Solutions, Product Transition, Products, Company, and Careers — each requiring its own content structure, visual treatment, and audience focus.
The design is clean, technical, and confident. Navigation is structured so that a program manager evaluating capabilities and a software engineer exploring career opportunities can both find what they need within a few clicks. Product lines including C-UAS Systems, REACT, and Wolfjaw each received dedicated pages with clear articulation of what the technology does and who it serves.
